Dear Parents and Guardians,
January flew by and the students continued to be hard at work furthering their literacy and oral skills. In February, we will focus on providing evidence for the answers that we give to any questions. We can do this by using the word “because” in our sentences, both spoken and written. For example, if we were to ask the question: “What is your favorite fruit”? We should be able to respond with “My favorite fruit is _________ because ________”. Or, if we are answering a question about something about a text or book that we are reading, we should be able to respond the same way. For example, if we were to pose the question, “What is the problem in the story?” We should be able to respond with, “The problem in the story is ______ because _______”. Encourage the students to make it a habit adding an explanation to everything that they do. As always, we are available after school on Tuesdays to discuss any questions or comments. Thank you!
