Dear Parents and Guardians,

February was a busy month of learning and celebrations. Now that we are in March, we are going full steam ahead preparing for the upcoming NYSESLAT exam. Our focus this month is to target our student’s writing scores. They will be able to show growth by practicing writing about their own experiences and opinions. For example, you can keep a journal at home with fun, non-academic prompts such as “If you had your own garden, what you would you grow and why?” or “what job would you like to do when you are older? Why?” An internet search of “fun writing prompts” can yield more examples. Encourage students to back up their responses with reasons and details. The more they write, the better their chances are at getting the maximum amounts of points! As always, we are available after school on Tuesdays to discuss any questions or comments. Thank you!
