Dear Parents and Guardians,

Time is sure flying by! It is already May and this year is quickly coming to an end. There are many activities scheduled this month. We will be completing i-Ready End of Year testing for reading and math, as well as running records. Please ensure that your children keep up with their homework routines especially with their daily reading log. In addition, if you are interested in the Summer Rising program, enrollment is now open: https://www.schools.nyc.gov/enrollment/summer/grades-k-8

Communication is important to us, and we want to keep you updated on your child’s progress at school.  Please make sure that you check the Class Dojo messages daily.  Please do not hesitate to call us at the school, send us an email/Dojo message, or schedule a virtual meeting if you ever have any questions!

The school establishes a classroom and school culture where students feel safe, supported, and challenged by their teachers and peers.

Our focus this month will be positive affirmations. Positive affirmations are positive statements that are encouraging and motivational. Kids can receive positive affirmations from others, like their parents or teachers (“I believe in you”), and they can learn to use them in their self-talk (“I believe in myself”). Affirmations for kids can be done in a variety of ways:

  • say their affirmations silently using their inner voice

  • visualize their affirmations

  • say them out loud in front of a mirror

  • write down a few encouraging words they can glance at from time to time


Strong Family-Community Ties & Collaborative Teachers

School leadership brings resources from the community into the school building by welcoming, encouraging, and developing partnerships with families, businesses, and community-based organizations.
